Desi serials. What do I say about them?
They have a life of their own. Logic rarely has anything to do with Desi shows. Like someone once said "Better lock up your brain before you watch a Desi show"!
The show I currently watch #EkMutthiAasmaan is currently in one of its "Toss Aside Thine Brain" phases.
Which brings me to the title. LINES CROSSED,MOTHERHOOD TOSSED.
Launched on the "unique" idea of following the life and tribulations of a maid servant, it has post TWO leaps (a weapon writers and channel use when the writer has a writer's block,but doesn't get sacked for non-performance) arrived at the altar of Holy Matrimony.....Ooops....I meant Holier than thou mother overdose.
Unlike other shows (kuch toh unique hai), there is no scorpion on the forehead as a bindi & no massive red bindi either.
But these 3 mothers would try the patience of any MOTHER Superior!
Allow me to introduce - Kamla - afore said maid servant. Now mother of kids who are adults. But hell if anyone dares think for themselves! Kamla showers upon them the innumerable Kamla Commandments. Truth is viewed,at all times,the way she wants to see. A trait that went straight through breast milk,to her employer's daughter. The love between them,is so annoying that I get vibes of a rather Gay Jodi! In all things, Kamla sees only Porky's (real name Pakhi) side. Now she is the mother of a daughter herself, but DAMNED if she remembers ever carrying that child for 9 months.
Kalpana has grown up feeling second best,not good enough and her mother insists on giving her second hand time.....you see, some asinine IDIOT thinks that it will make Kalpana isssstrong!
Despite Porky being in a love less marriage,Dumbla insists on the hubby will Change. Never mind if the husband in question is MADLY in love with Kalpana.
Next comes Gauri. With a maligned character and many years of falling in front of various cars,she hid from her husband's murders.
Third is Neetu. Murderess par Excellance, crass & an ornamental mother of Porky.
Combine these together,you get the BEST migraine inducers in the industry.
Kamla with her Dumbmandments,her Porky obsession, Gauri with revenge on her mind and Neetu digging rubbish out of bins eat so much airtime,that saying prayers on the knees all day at the nunnery may be less "painful"!
Sufferers in the middle,the Jodi..the couple...Raghav & Kalpana. Driven mad by his love for Kalpana and the blackmailing Gauri, he smears enough sindoor on Kalpana's head ,that she officially can be called Red Head.
Today we shall see all the mothers and their Pontification at the pulpit....oops....temple.
We will see how channels & writers,kill the very pure essence of motherhood.
Each mother selfish,each to her own goal. Each forgetting that motherhood means putting your child always before you. For the story to stretch, we will see everything a normal mother would never do. Which makes me wonder if it's men writing such characters for serials or spinster women?
I shall write more on this devilish Triamvirate as the story goes along.
Sad am I and so many others, at the lines crossed and motherhood tossed.
